Timed Assessment

Timed Assessment

After Days of practice, changes, emails whatsapp messages, the day final came.

I completed Martina's desired look exactly how she wanted it and both her and i were happy with the make-up application. However my photos weren't the best quality so we retook on my phone.

Fashion

A Female That Changed Fashion

http://images.latinpost.com/data/images/full/4730/princess-diana.jpg?w=600

Princess Di was a very chic and classy woman, a lot of females look up to her
Diana is missed by people all around the world and I have no doubt if she was here today she'd be front page on fashion mags

Taming of The Shrew

Taming of The Shrew

So I missed this lesson where my group watched taming of the shrew. I caught up in my own time but was unable to watch the whole movie as there wasn't enough time.

Now the movie itself was so interesting and had me glued to the screen, so much so that I will be purchasing for my own personal viewing.

I would say the lead character Katherine Minola has great similarities to Queen Elizabeth I. She is her own person, powerful and strong minded. She is actually a single virgin up until she meets her soon to be husband. Queen Elizabeth whether true or not was labelled the virgin Queen as she had no children and wasn't seen with any men.

Iconic

Kate Moss

I have chosen Kate Moss as she is one of my favourite celebrities. I feel Kate has so much character, and I personally feel she is one of the worlds biggest most recognised models.

The fact that Kate isn't even the required height for catwalk shows her talents

Now as like many celebs Kate has had her dark moments in her career and can sometimes be known for drug use. But she's still my favourite supermodel and the most original to date.

Here's Kate on her Wedding to Jamie Hince Back in 2011 with her daughter as flower girl, I have chosen this picture as she's all smiles for her big day!

Chloe's New Elizabethan

My New Elizabethan

My New Elizabethan would have to be Kate Moss Modelling for Alexander McQueen's 2014 winter Collection. At one point in my life Miss Moss was my idol and I loved everything about her. In The image below Kate's outfit I would say is contemporary, it could even pass as the Roman era. However her face resembles the Elizabethan age. Kate's face appears to be paler than her usual skin tone. Her brows have also been tinted or bleached to match her hair colour, her blush is minimal so that it doesn't take the limelight of of her base foundation.

Practising For The Final

Practice

Living in London I thought I was going to struggle and possibly bring my models grading down. This was the opposite to what I thought and we worked well as a team. I was able to stay over and get the maximum practice in before the timed assessment.

Here's some images from practising which we later modified.....

My Design

My Design.....Timed Assessment

So My Design on my face........I have to take my hat off to the fabulous Miss Martina Baycheva.
My face chart was a complete fail and didn't really portray the look I was trying to produce. However after sleep overs and studio practice she got my look on point, and I have to say I am extremely happy with the final result.

My Final Evaluation

The Final

When I first got paired with Martina, I was slightly nervous, as although we were in the same group we never actually spoke until we were paired. Secondly she already comes from a make-up background, so initially I thought her designs were going to be of a professional standard, which I’d be unable to achieve. However her designs were really straight forward and I was able to practice outside of university on her and myself at home.

I am very pleased with my make-up application and feel that it matches Martina’s design to the best of my ability, she also gave me compliments and advised me during practice sessions where I could build up colour or blend more.

The only part of the project, which I am not entirely happy with, is my photographs. As I do not come from a photography background I find it really hard set up and capture good shots. I think if I had more time and less people around the area of photography I would have been able to shoot better pictures. However I shot what was asked (front & side view) and also took more photos in the studio.

Day of The Dead

Day Of The Dead

So this was Halloween week, I was given a photograph of Day of The Dead Make-up which i had to transfer to my models face.

I think the task went well for my first attempt but my speed wasn't up to scratch therefore the whole look wasn't completed.

All in all the look resembles Halloween so I am pleased with the final result.

Taking Out Eyebrows....

Removal of Brows

So as we all know the Elizabethans were notorious for their absent hairline and brows.

In this session I was taught how to remove my own brows using soap and a pritt stick, after watching both demo's I decided I preferred using a pritt stick.

Here's How....

  • Cleanse and Tone Face as usual
  • Using a spatula apply the pritt stick in the direction of the hair growth
  • Apply translucent powder to help dry the brow area
  • Apply foundation to the brow, once the brow is covered continue applying foundation to the rest of the face

Val Garland....

Val Garland

Make up artists are all new to me, unless researching I wouldn't be able to name someone off my head.

Now Val Garland who i have been asked to research is amazing, she brings something different to the table. Val uses lines and shapes as her make-up, it gives the model a edgy yet different look. I think for the catwalk and magazine covers her designs are outstanding

Val has worked for Top model Kate Moss and has done multiple vogue covers. She has also done work for Vivienne Westwood's catwalk.

Colour Theory....

What is colour theory?

Colour theory is a guide when mixing colours. There are categories based on colour theory such as colour wheel, primary colour, secondary colour and tertiary colour.

The tradition of colour theory steamed back in the 18th century, with the helping of Sir Isaac Newtons theory of colour and the nature of primary colours.

Self Portrait

Self Portrait

So I was asked to produce a self portrait (selfie) of myself that shows wealth. Now I wouldn't say I'm wealthy nor have anything to show off, but I did happen to find a picture of myself at my happiest. This was back in New Year 2012, I travelled to the BIG APPLE! Now like I said above I am not wealthy, maybe its because I was a tourist but the Americans made me feel so superior, I felt like a celebrity, and feeling this way made me look this way.

So here it is my self portrait Heathrow Airport Terminal 5

I guess you could say the fur and heels show a sign of wealth :)

Three Three Three

The Three Brush Challenge.

Initially I was thinking why and what is the need for this task. Surprisingly I enjoyed the task and my make up looked just as good if not better.

So basically I had to choose a make-up look, as it was timed assessment week I decided to stick to my models design. Then I had to choose three brushes to complete the whole look, I chose my foundation brush, buffing brush and lastly blusher brush.

If I was to go back to this task I would replace my blusher brush with a smaller brush as I struggled slightly when it came to working on the eyes and lips.

Here's My Completed Look!

The Westmore Family

The Westmore's

The Westmore family are well known for their make-up, they owned Hollywood's first make up department back in 1917.

The founder George Westmore was a English wig maker, would work on stars such as Mary Pickford. George Westmore has three generations that have steamed from his six sons Perc Westmore, Ern Westmore, Monte Westmore, Wally Westmore, Bud Westmore, and Frank Westmore.

In 1921 Monte Westmore made his break becoming actors Rudoplh Valentino's personal make-up artist. Sadly in 1926 Rudolph passed away, Monte went on to work at Selznick International. He met his death 13 years later after the huge work load for the movie 'Gone with the wind' became too much for him.

Perc Westmore became established in 1923 when he landed a career with Warner Bros. He worked on films such as 'The private lives of Elizabeth and Essex'.

Wally Westmore worked for Paramount in 1926 and created the faces for 1931. Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde. He became well known for his prosthetics.

The Brothers later went on and opened The House of Westmore Salon for celebrities and the public.

Contouring.....

How to contour......

In this practical session we learnt how to highlight and contour the face.

  • Firstly apply the foundation base, to match your models face
  • Set with translucent powder
  • Using the camouflage palette select a colour darker than the models natural skin tone, ask model to suck in her cheeks and apply directly, blend this in well
  • Also apply to the sides and tip of the nose to make the nose appear smaller and shorter
  • Add a blusher to complete the look

Ta Da!!!
